PVC is the predominant material used in domestic and infrastructure sewer applications in Australia. The economic advantages of PVC are well accepted. It is lightweight, resistant to a wide variety of chemicals, impervious to bacteria, fungi attack and not subject to electrolytic corrosion. Pipes assemble easily using solvent cement or with rubber gaskets to accommodate thermal or ground movement.
